Alpha Heatherton News

Congratulations to staff member Chris Brooke on the arrival of his daughter Ella Rose on the 25th January this year. Both mother and daughter doing well.... father struggling.

WOOD WORK

The woodwork program is developing well according to John who thinks that clients are increasing their awareness and confidence, asking for and suggesting projects of their own.

GYM

Thanks go to The Jack Brockoff Foundation for their donation to start our gym program which is beginning to take shape under the guidance of our gym instructor Stiv and other staff. Early signs indicate clients are getting fitter and healthier.

GARDENING

The certificate 1 in horticulture group with co-developers Ben and Amie would like to thank Diacos Nursury in Old Dandenong Road for their support and giving us a guided tour of their nursery on 6th Feb.

This program is coming along very well with the view of offering similar programs in the future.

SELF CARE

Instructors Sarah and Carmen along with clients have seen this program grow to the extent that most of the clients participating are now independent at doing the tasks required in the program, e.g., nail polish and putting on their own make up.

COOKING

All cooking groups report that clients are learning to prepare as well as taste a much wider variety of foods, such as vegetarian meals, italian, indian and sushi. These are all chosen by the clients themselves.

IMPORTANT DATES

Alpha Heatherton Family/Carer day is on the 12th of March at 10.30am-12pm. All staff will be in attendance to welcome families and carers of our clients.
