Possibilities for Support
Want to Make a Difference?
Many people and organisations seek ways to make a difference to their community. If you are interested in helping out at Alpha, there are many ways we can help you do so. If you want to raise some funds for Alpha you can make a donation, join our drawtism campaign, organise your own event or set up a monthly contribution. If you feel like giving volunteering a go, Alpha has a range of volunteering opportunities. Whicever you choose, we will be glad to hear from you and welcome your support.
The Time to Stop and Smell the Roses
The privilege of working with our client group is that participation in one of our programs is as enjoyable and fun as any leisure activity outside of work. Coupled with the fact that many people find volunteering satisfying and rewarding, we think that volunteers will find an authentic and meaningful way to spend their time whilst making a difference. The nature of our programs means that we are literally lucky enough to find the time to stop and smell the roses.
At present, we are looking for volunteers to support our fundraising campaigns and assist in client programs. Many businesses support such possibilities and provide their employees with paid leave to undertake volunteer activities. Your Human Resources department will know what level of support it can offer you.
Volunteer - Fundraising Campaigns: drawtism May 2010
In May 2010, Alpha Autism will again be running drawtism - pictionary for autism, a fun and innovative fundraising campaign. This campaign will require significant logistical support, and we are seeking volunteers to help in the running of the campaign. If you would like to join our campaign team, please contact wojciechn@alpha-autism.org.au
Volunteer - Client Programs
Each day the clients arrive at our varying centres and are encouraged to participate in programs. These programs develop important skills that foster meaningful activity and independent living. To help further achieve these aims, we are seek members of the public to work directly with our clients in a supervised program environment. We ask that each potential volunteer be positive, flexible, and prepared to work closely and 'hands-on' with our clients.
The aims of this program are to:
- introduce our clients to a wider circle of people;
- increase community awareness of autism;
- provide a positive, effective and satisfying way for volunteers to meet people with disabilities.
Each volunteer will be provided with a preliminary information session, site induction, program outline and 'end of day' debrief. Each volunteer will be supervised and supported throughout the day.
If you are interested in joining our clients in Art Therapy, Drumming, Cooking, Body Balance, Gardening or any of our other great client programs, please contact wojciechn@alpha-autism.org.au
